WEDNESDAY JUNE 26: EXTRA! STORY: Andrew Green PHOTOGRAPHY: Bob Garypie intention of having short, quiet workdays. I originally came here on invitation from my father, Gary Green. He had been director of the first several Games. This is the first year I have been here, yet I have heard about it from many years. My jobs were interesting and relaxed and I was prepared to work with TransWeb. The first few days were fairly quiet, with only minor |

problems occurring. All that changed. All of a sudden, planeloads of people had arrived and the hustle and bustle of the games had begun. | ||||||
As the last of us scrambled to finish stuffing goodie-bags and packets, a thought occurred to me. It is one not common in an eleven-year-old's mind. I started thinking of the reason these great athletes and donor families are here. I thought to my self, "all of the people here, young and old alike are here because of the generosity and selflessness of others." On a lighter note, I would like to congratulate all of the wonderful staff and volunteers. Without your help and support none of these great athletes would be here. I would also like to thank the living donors, and donor families. You, especially, know the true meaning of sacrifice. While this is my first Transplant Games, I feel like I have been here many times. And I also feel that these games are turning out to be quite interesting and will enjoy watching them continue. |
